Candied Appeal CIC is a community of people interested in connecting with the earth and living with its rhythms and seasons. Candied Appeal Community Event

Saturday 3rd January 3pm - 5pm

Join us for the next community event to welcome in the New Year. At this gathering we will give thanks for the year past, reflect on the year ahead and share ways that we will care for our world in the year to come.

This event will also be our first community trade-in. You will be able to exchange items on our ‘wanted’ list for baked goods. The list will be coming soon, but is likely to include empty biscuit tins, empty chocolate tubs amongst other things. You can book your place here

Meet the Directors of Candied Appeal CIC

  • I’m Lindsey Hall the founder of Candied Appeal CIC.

Candied Appeal is the result of several of my passions coming together and the culmination of several different strands of career.

I started my career lecturing in theology. It seemed to me at the time, and it still does that the questions of who God is, who we are and what life is for are at the very heart of life and wanting to understand more of these things led me to work in universities, training people for ministry and then working in the area of Christian vocation. I have always been passionate about helping people to flourish, to become the people they are created to be. Since then I have worked for a couple of faith sector charities and have kept studying and exploring. I began to spend more time on what I had thought of as casual hobbies, especially baking and upcycling.

For several years I had thought about starting up a social enterprise of some kind and it never felt like the time was right,  my vision for it wasn’t clear enough, or I just didn’t know if I would be cut out for it. Towards the end of 2024 I began to feel that things were lining up to make it possible and what is now Candied Appeal gained, and is gaining shape bit by bit.

  • I’m Simon Foster.

I’m so excited to be involved in Candied Appeal CIC from the outset.   Lindsey’s vision is one of generosity, encouragement and hope.   It’s just what we need at this moment.    She’s full of great ideas about how life could be a little bit more joyful for everyone around.

In my adult years, I’ve worked for mental health charities, the NHS, and I have also run my own social enterprise.  I’m now a volunteer priest with a day job in a Church of England diocese office.

I’m looking forward to supporting Candied Appeal in a range of ways, like running events, workshops and retreats.   But above all it’s my ambition to become head of quality control on the baking side of our projects.   After all, someone’s got to make sure they taste good!

  • I’m Cath Hughes.

I’m really enthusiastic about the vision of Candied Appeal and the joy and hope it offers to those it connects with now and for future generations.

I hope that my possibly strange combination of love of the colourful and creative and also of the structured and organised can help bring the vision to life.

I worked as a librarian for many years and am forever a librarian at heart, never happier than when I can connect people with information.

I am passionate about creating colour wherever possible, usually by painting anything that will stay still long enough or by making bunting.

I am a morris dancer and love it for the friendship, the movement, the music and the colour, and also for the weird and wonderful places it has taken me to and experiences it has given me.

I’m really proud to be part of the Candied Appeal Community and to share the mix of gifts I bring and am excited to see the enterprise bear fruit.

  • I'm Simon Hughes.

It's great to be involved in Candied Appeal CIC and to support Lindsey's hopes to make a change in the world. She's got loads of great plans and it's exciting to be able to help them come to life.

I've worked (and continue to work) as a civil engineer in a variety of roles, currently in the charity sector. I've always enjoyed making my mark on the world and Candied Appeal will be a great way of doing that in a kinder way.

I like DIY, carpentry and gardening and enjoy the challenge of repurposing materials. I'm hoping my practical skills will be useful to bring the Candied Appeal vision into reality.
